Healing with Lifestyle Changes, Digestive Enzymes, and ECM
Hello, this is Dr. Ellen. In this month’s newsletter, I want to touch on the primary tools that I have used to help most of my patients change their trajectory away from chronic dis-ease and toward better health and wellness. I have been quite fortunate in my years of clinical practice, not only successfully helping my patients improve their health and quality of life, but also being able to share in their appreciation of those improvements. A number of my patients and even some referring doctors have called me a “healer”. Indeed, my work with patients is most rewarding when I can help them overcome their problems and transcend their suffering.(1) In this newsletter, I would like to point to the three main healing tools I use, namely, lifestyle changes, supplemental full spectrum digestive enzymes, and the energetic system of inquiry and desensitization I have developed, the Ellen Cutler Method (ECM).
By the way, if you haven’t had a chance to see my previous newsletters, you can find them on my website, www.drellencutler.com under ‘Free Resources’.
Lifestyle Changes
The vast majority of my patients have experienced improvements in their health and feelings of wellbeing when dietary modifications were established. These improvements are almost always the result of moving away from the standard American diet (SAD) and toward a whole food plant-based diet.(2) The other major beneficial recommendations are usually increasing and/or improving exercise/physical activity, getting regular restorative sleep (usually between 7 and 8 hours each night), and engaging in enjoyable social activities and personal practices such as mindfulness meditation.(3) In order to determine the optimal recommendations for each patient, I always use ECM to tailor these changes to the specific needs of each individual. For some, it may be necessary to first clear them for the specifically recommended lifestyle change in order for the optimal benefit to be derived. (see below).
Digestive Enzymes
Digestive enzymes help optimize the breakdown, absorption, and therefore the utilization of the nutrients in our foods. As we get older, the body gradually produces less digestive enzymes. I have found that no matter what the diet (or age) of a particular patient, their overall health and sense of wellness is improved by simply taking a plant-based full spectrum digestive enzyme blend at the beginning of each meal or snack to supplement the digestive enzymes naturally produced by the body. Each contains enzymes to help break down the three major macronutrients in our food – carbohydrates, proteins, and fats – as well as other nutrients. The one I most often recommend is Dr. Ellen’s Way Digest Supreme. For those with gastrointestinal distress, I often recommend Dr. Ellen’s Way G.I. Calm. It can be taken at the beginning of each meal, for some in addition to Digest Supreme, as well as in between meals. In addition to digestive enzymes, G.I. Calm contains soothing herbal extracts and quercetin to help ease GI discomfort.(4)
A third digestive enzyme supplement designed for those with uncomfortable excess gas causing bloating and flatulence is now offered on my website. ECM GasEnd Supreme contains plant-based full spectrum digestive enzymes. It also contains three herbal extracts from fennel seeds, caraway seeds, and dandelion leaves, which help decrease bloating and flatulence.(5)
Ellen Cutler Method (ECM)(6)
Perhaps my most important healing tool is ECM, which allows me to determine the best interventions to use for each individual. With ECM, I can identify underlying issues which may be causing or perpetuating the patient’s complaints, allowing them to be dealt with directly. Without ECM, these unsuspected factors typically go unrecognized and unaddressed. There can be many seemingly unrelated reactants to which the patient is sensitive. These can be as varied as past or ongoing exposures to substances, circumstances, or relationships. Perhaps most importantly, I can then use ECM to desensitize those reactivities and thus help diminish or completely reverse these sensitivities.
Over my years of practice, I have seen amazing turnarounds in many patients. Many times, issues that were not the primary reason for the patient seeing me have also improved or completely resolved. This has oftentimes resulted in an improvement at home or work, sometimes so significantly that they and others around them can hardly believe it, except for the fact that they are experiencing it for themselves. My greatest satisfaction has been the gratitude I have received from my patients. I am in turn forever grateful to them for giving me the opportunity to help them transcend their suffering.
Please be well, be healthy, but remember…
